Burton Young

Burton Young, 94, of West Union, Ohio passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2022 at The Adams County Manor. He was born January 3, 1928 in West Union.  He is preceded in death by wife, Lois Young; mother: Ruby Young; father and step-mother: Thomas and Hettie Young; two grandsons: Kevin Mitts and Bobby Mitts; one brother: Eugene Young; two step brothers: Wayne Adams and Bill Adams; one son-in-law, Bob Mitts and one sister-in-law, Ruth Young.

Burton is survived by one son, Donald (Ruth) Young of West Union; two daughters: Dianna Young-Mitts of Port St. Lucie, Florida and Debbie (Melvin) Fannin of West Union; three grandchildren: Jeremy Young of West Union, Leslie (Garett) Koehler of Otway and Wendy (Eric) Rodriguez of Port St. Lucie, Florida; four great-grandchildren: Josh Young of Peebles, Elyse Rodriguez of Port St. Lucie, Florida, Aralyn Koehler and Thaddeus Koehler of Otway and one brother, Mack Young of Arizona.

Burton was born on Wheat Ridge Road in West Union. He was a member of the National Camping and Hiking Association and attended the West Union Presbyterian Church throughout his life. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.  He worked as a mechanic for John Deere for 12 years and later retired from the Copeland Corporation.  He served on the West Union Village Council, he was a member of the rambling relics antique car club and enjoyed western novels and puzzles.  He treasured his family and was always willing to help anyone in need.

The public visitation is 5-8 pm Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at Lafferty Funeral Home Incorporated, 205 South Cherry Street, West Union, Ohio 45693.

The public funeral is 1 pm Thursday, December 15, 2022 at Lafferty Funeral Home Incorporated. Pastor Bill Cooper will officiate.

The public interment is at Wheat Ridge Baptist Cemetery, Freeland Hollow Road, Oliver Township, West Union, Ohio 45693. The Adams County Honor Guard will perform a military service.
